Halloween 2009

Well, it was around this time last year that I started this blog. Now we have come around to Halloween again. This year, we are participating in Trunk or Treat at church. We have a barnyard theme going. The scout is going to be the barn, Tim, the farmer. Titus and Quintin will we a horse and cow, respectively. I'm going to be a cat. I'll update when I get a chance, but here is Titus.

Titus' Big Boy Bed

We finally moved Titus to a "big boy" bed. He was alout to crawl over the edge of the crib, so he was outa there! Now Quintin is in the crib that Tim made, so they will both get to use that for a while. They are both growing so fast. Quintin is pulling up to his feet (as of yesterday) when he's in his crib and he can climb steps! Nothing is safe anymore!

Organizing progress

Well, I managed to get some organizing and cleaning done on my days off. They most noticable project was getting my pictures hung on the wall with the help of my wonderful mother-in-law! She has a good eye for decorating. Now I just need to get some more decorations. I also got my bedroom cleaned. That is such a nice feeling. It's much more relaxing to be in there now. I started organing my office, but didn't get very far (although the pictures came from there, so that's one thing out of the way.) I also made some baby food and some apple butter and had some time to practice on the piano. I found that the house actually maintained better during that time. I think once things are better organized, it will be even easier still. I will try to get some pitures posted in the next week of Halloween costumes. not quite sure what we are doing, but I'll keep you posted.

No More a Messie!

I have resolved to no longer be a messie. I am starting by posting it here for everyone to see. I am working on becoming organized, with the help of Sandra Felton (The Organizer Lady), and hope to some day not feel like a complete disadter everyday. My ultimate gols for this task are to create less frustration for Tim and to have some time for myself. I know that it will take some time, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Titus' 1st Dentist Visit

Titus went to the dentist for the first time last month. I figured that it would not go well. He hates getting his teeth brushed. He did pretty well. They only looked at them. I expect trying to actually clean them will be crazy! He got a Winnie the Pooh tooth brush that he managed to get open before we got home (less than 10 min!)

Here is a video of Quintin crawling--sort of.

Collages

This should print as an 8x10. These are all taken at 5-6 months.

Update (nothing exciting)

There has not really been anything new going on around here. I am maintaining at my job, sometimes wondering if it's time for a change, but not quite to the point I want to jump in and do anything crazy. Tim is still talking about starting school, but has yet to do it. There is a chance he may go way,way north (Alaska) to work on the pipeline to get some extra money to get us ahead before he starts school. If he does that, he will be gone Jan-Mar. I guess it won't be that much different than when he was in the Navy, except with 2 kids. We'll see. Things change on a daily basis here, so I don't worry about much until it actually happens. I still don't know where we'll be living for the next few years. I'm still not real thrilled with Lubbock, but what can you do?
The boys are doing great. Titus loves Quintin. Quintin is quite mobile now. He sits up really well and scoots himself all over the place. I'll try to get some more pictures up later this weekend. He started on baby food last week and is doing really well with it.
Tim is still working on getting his business rolling. He's working on a cabinet for a beauty shop right now.

A New Day

Well, the bread didn't quite turn out. Oh, well. This is a new day. All the other days before were just practice for this one. I can try the bread again and I get to start everything else again today too. Praise God for new days! May I honor Him in all that I do. May I set an example for my kids. May I love those around me and see them the way God does. To have a Christ-like mindset, that is what I am striving for. Than is what I want to start fresh on each and every day.

Bread maker trial

Well, I have been studying all week and I have finally tried out my bread maker. Tim's mom gave me hers. They don't eat a lot of bread. I have been wanting to find a healthy bread that doesn't cost a fortune so I did some research, started with a basic recipe and jumped in. If I told you all that was in it, you'd laugh at me so we'll see if it works first then maybe I'll divulge my secrets! The best part is, all you have to do is throw all the stuff in the machine and let it go! I'll keep you posted.

Well, he's done it now...

Well, Tim finally did it. He quit his job at Caprock equiptment on Monday. He has the rest of this week and next week and then he is unemployed (or self-employed, depending on how you look at it). He already has a job lined up, building and installing some custom shelves for a friend at church. Our next step is to work on establishing a business. I'm excited for him. I've always thought that he was meant to have his own business. Working for other people just doesn't suit him. He's very good at woodworking and handymaning (is that a word?) and he has a great way of connecting with people. Keep us in your prayers as we launch off into this. We want our business to be Christ-centered. I know there will be challenges as we will have to make decisions together and manage our time differently. I am excited about the flexibility that we will have in our schedule now. I know that God will supply the jobs. May we be faithful to Him with our time and money.

He is still planning on starting school in the fall. He's not sure what major to choose, but I'm glad he is finally starting. He gave a lot to the Navy. It's nice to be gatting something back.

We are looking forward to seeing Tim's grandparents this weekend. We will post pictures soon.

Changes and transitions

I am asking you all to keep Tim and our family in your prayers as we adjust to him working part time. He may even be leaving his job altogether soon. He is in the process of starting an LLC from home. As many of you know, he is an excellent woodworker and handyman extraordinaire. He would love to make a living building furniture. He may soon have the opportunity to do that as his job is getting harder and harder to take. He is already planning on going to school in the fall. The GI benefits increase then. Pray for wisdom and courage to do what God calls him to do.

The Only Hope

There is a song that is out right now by Bebo Norman that I have really been able to relate to. I'm going to post the lyrics. I've had a hard time trying to find time for a quiet time and take care of a (and now two) kid(s). May we always remember that God's plan and desire for us is so much better than ours. That lesson is so clear to me when I take something from Titus that is not good for him. He gets so upset, but that's because he doesn't realize that I have something better for him. He just doesn't understand the big picture.

I want to run, it’s my nature to run
And I want to fight, it’s my nature to fight
And I want to live, but you tell me to die
I have resolved that I’m much better off in your hands than mine

I’m begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to take my life from me

I want a crumb, but you are a feast
I want a song, but you are a symphony
I want a star, but you are a galaxy
And I have resolved that I’m much better off in what you have for me

I’m begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to take my life from me
So tell me you won’t let go
Tell me you won’t let go
Cause you are the only hope for me

Take my life from me, It’s the only hope for me
Take my life from me, It’s the only hope for me
And I’ll never want for more
I’ll never want for more

I’m begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to hold on tight
Begging you to take my life from me
So tell me you won’t let go
Tell me you won’t let go
Cause you are the only hope for me

You’re the only hope for me
Yeah, you’re the only hope for me

June?! Already?

Wow! Time just flies when you're chasing kids. Life is good right now. Titus has adjusted well. Quintin is getting past the crazy newborn stage. He is sleeping better, crying less, smiling and making the cutest noises. He is growing like crazy. Tim started his part time hours this week. I am so excited about that. No more daycare!!! It's not that we will have any more money in our pockets, but it is good to have them at home. Monday was rough. I was wondering if I was cut out to be even a remote form of a stay at home mom. But we got out of the house a little Tues and Wed and things seemed to go better. This morning, Titus is playing outside in his underwear, having a great time. I think I will still trying to take advantage of some Mom's Day Out things to keep him used to being left with other people, but he doesn't have to get bit all the time this way.

Keeping him home has also allowed us to start potty training him. They weren't willing to work with us until he was 2 (despite the fact that they took another little girl to the potty all the time). He is doing pretty well so far. Still cleaning up lots of messes, but no outright defiance. I'll take what I can get. He is good about telling us when he needs to go.

We are looking forward to a trip to Missouri in July. We should be there by the evening of the 23rd and are planning to stay just under a week.

Since I'm posting, I'm going to add some new pics and maybe a video. Quintin rolled over for the 1st time a few weeks ago and I managed to catch it on video.

Painting eggs and playing in the mud!

Here is Titus playing in the water and newly tilled ground this afternoon. He is such a boy. At least he had sandals on. He also got to dye Easter eggs with Nanny. Tomorrow he is going to an egg hunt, we'll see how that goes.

Titus lovin' Quintin

This is Titus hugging and kissing Quintin. He really likes him. He calls him "my baby." They are quite a pair and such a blessing in our lives.

Quintin Glenn!!!

Our new addition has finally arrived. He made his entry into the world March 31 at 6:24 am. He was 7 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 in. long. To add to the obvious joys of welcoming a new baby, I didn't have to have a c-section! My labor was very short. I was only in the hospital for 3.5 hours before he was born and I got to go home just over 24 hours after his birth. Praise God for so many answered prayers!
He is 1 week old today and is above his birth weight. He is a great nurser. That has been so much easier this time. Titus loves him and is adjusting really well. Tim and I are as well. Toting two little ones around is a handful, but they are both a joy.
Thank you for all the prayers, gifts, and food. We appreciate it so much.

It's been a while!

Sorry I haven't updated this in soooo long. Things have been quite busy here. We got quite a bit done on the house last weekend. Tim and his dad got all the baseboards in place and the cabinet doors up. We got most of the painting that was left to do in the kitchen done. I actually had the house clean for a day or so, but that never lasts long around here. We are getting ready to host a small group starting next weekend, assuming we are not in the hospital.

We are pretty much ready for this little one's arrival. It's amazing what I know doesn't really have to be done right away this time. Most of this pregnancy has just flown by, but the past couple of weeks have drug on and on. My due date is April 8th, but it looks like I may be getting a bit of a break with an induction if he's not here by April 1st. For those of you who haven't heard, his name will be Quintin Glenn. Quintin was the only name that we both liked. It took us forever to come to an agreement on that. Glen was his uncle who died in childhood of leukemia.

The ladies at our church gave me an awesome baby shower. My sister-in-law came in for the weekend with her 2 kids. Then they surprised me by having my mom there when I arrived. That was a very nice surprise. It was actually her anniversary present from my dad. She got to be there and got her Titus fix and we had a good time. Thank you to all who have sent gifts. Real thank you notes are coming, I promise.

Here is a little collage I made of Titus pictures. I guess I will be making a new one soon to get both boys in.

Rebecca and Logan were here with their kids this weekend, so we got to meet Garrett for the first time. What a sweetie! Titus and Caleb had a great time playing together. We all had a good visit and Tim's grandparents from Memphis came also.

Christmas

Here's a video of Titus before he opened the Elmo chair from Papa and Grandma Kathy. He has almost as much fun with it wrapped as unwrapped!

Titus had a really hard time with putting one gift to the side long enough to open another. Guess we should have only gotten him one thing! He had a great time and we had a very uneventful, enjoyable day.
